Quoting the Department of Environmental Affairs' deputy minister, Rejoice Mabudafhasi's spokesman Albi Modise, Times Live says that reports that the hotel would be built without assessing the development's effect on the environment were wrong.
He says that the outcome of the EIA would determine if the department would allow the hotel to be built in an ecologically-sensitive area.
Times Live says that the proposed development of two hotels in the Kruger National Park had drawn fierce criticism from environmentalists.
