Commemorate Mandela with the Bree Street Takeover

The Community Chest invites you to join in celebrating the life of Madiba with the Bree Street Takeover this Friday.

Bring along blankets and non-perishable food items as the Community Chest once again lines the pavement, creating a blanket chain all the way down the street for 67 seconds.

Many communities rely on this much-needed aid each winter. These items are distributed through our network of community organisations to provide relief and support to affected communities. This year they will be distributing all the items donated on Mandela Day in your name.

Should you require, blankets will be on sale, at a cost of R50 each, beforehand and on the day from the Community Chest offices at 82 Bree Street. As soon as the 67-second tribute is over, volunteers will collect the donations.
