Top Carpets and Floors, which has its headquarters in Pinetown near Durban, donates a percentage of sales to Reach for Recovery for every room carpeted with either Van Dyck or Constantia carpets available through its outlets nationwide.

Volunteers are survivors

Reach for Recovery is a non-profit organisation that provides free, non-medical support and information to breast cancer patients and assists in the recovery process. Its trained volunteers are themselves cancer survivors. In addition to the printed information and recovery kits that Reach for Recovery distributes, group support meetings are also offered.

"Most of our customers are women and causes close to women's hearts are tremendously important to us as a company," says Shaeden Watson, chief operating officer of Top Carpets and Floors. The group has more than 130 branches nationwide, which are also being used to distribute information for Reach for Recovery.

Marika Wade, KZN coordinator of Reach for Recovery, said the organisation valued its ongoing partnership with Top Carpets and Floors and looked forward to continued close collaboration.
