Loeries Creative Week

Made possible by:

Bizcommunity covering the Loeries since 2002

To celebrate 12 years of Loerie Awards coverage by Bizcommunity's online Advertising, Marketing and Media news site, 1500 multi-coloured balloons rained down on the unsuspecting audience from the CTICC auditorium's roof, causing a major disruption shortly after the start of the opening night of the Communication Design Loeries held in Cape Town on 20 September 2014, bringing the already-excited crowd to fever pitch, as a riot of batting, popping and shrieking ensued.

The audience was informed by host, John Vlismas, that two of the balloons contained prize vouchers of R10,000 to spend on a creative digital marketing campaign on Bizcommunity.com.

According to Line Producer Anneliese Le-Breton of Funk-productions, the frenzy of popping and banging that ensued, went against all protocol among the those charged with the safety and security of Alderman Patricia de Lille (@PatriciaDeLille), who had welcomed everyone to the event.

Luckily no one was harmed in the activation and Anny Mouton, MD of Ogilvy Namibia (@OgilvyNamibia) and Conn Bertish (@connbertish) CD of Quirk Marketing Agency were the lucky winners of the vouchers.

The second Awards ceremony evening, which annually brings the cream of the SA ad industry together, opened with fireworks, and John Vlismas (@fortyshort) perched on an elaborate throne, which was wheeled onto the stage in a cloud of smoke and showers of sparklers. Another exciting preamble saw Premier Helen Zille (@helenzille) bring her dog, Panzer, onto the stage in response to the award-winning street pole poster campaign by Durban-based agency, The Hardy Boys, which made politicians' campaign posters look as if they were holding dogs in awareness of the SNPCA.

Bizcommunity would like to thank all partners and suppliers who have been so obliging and professional over the duration of the Loeries Creative Week Cape Town.

Thanks, we had a blast!
