ADAPT IT software making inroads into Africa
Although market conditions in the sugar industry remained tough on the back of the recent drought, the JSE-listed IT group had serviced a sugar plant in Mali and won a contract with a sugar refinery in the US, Shabalala said. Business Report says that Adapt IT reported an 8 percent hike in revenue to R92.3 million for the six months to December. Earnings a share leapt 80 percent to 6.19c.
Shabalala told The Witness that Adapt IT clients would find it difficult to allow the service provider to exit their businesses as it has successfully embedded itself across all of its clients' operations. It is a model that provides the group with a significant competitive advantage, he said. Another major competitive advantage is the group's intellectual property, which provides it with annual licence fees from clients for the use of its software.
