Businesses shut down in Pilgrim's Rest

Times Live reports that eviction notices have been issued to at least 17 businesses in the sleepy, remote and historic town of Pilgrim's Rest in Mpumalanga by the provincial department of public works, roads and transport. The business owners have been given 31 days to close their businesses and vacate the premises they currently occupy.

Pilgrim's Rest tourism officer Sherry Goodwin says the motivation behind the eviction notices was to transform the economy and include people from previously disadvantaged communities, Times Live reports.
