CSIR International Convention Centre makes further donations

In continuing with its ongoing CSI programme, the CSIR International Convention Centre (CSIR ICC) made various donations to several charities around Tshwane recently.

The ICC donated over 420 surplus banqueting chairs to two schools in Tshwane. The schools, Banareng Primary School in Atteridgeville, which has 890 learners, and Birningham Junior Centre, an NGO providing early learning and child care to children in Soshanguve Block M, were in need of chairs for their learners the hosting of community meetings.

The ICC also donated notepads to the Methodist Church of southern Africa's Limpopo District Women Manyao/Kopano Prayer and Service Union for the church's annual women's conference. The conference is aimed at uplifting women in rural areas and townships.

Not new to the CSIR ICC's donation list is Mohau Childrens Centre, also in Attridgeville. The children's home received a truckload of crockery and table cloths from the CSIR ICC.

Truly a blessing

"The assistance the CSIR International Convention Centre continues to give us is truly a blessing. We are even able to put excess goods, over and above what we can use in the home, into our shop to make extra money for required for other household goods," explained Esther Jaxa, Mohau Children Centre's manager.

Ideally, organisations should aim to uplift communities in which they operate and that is exactly what the CSIR International Convention Centre is doing. Another ongoing community project that the CSIR ICC has in place is the capacity development opportunities it offers Tshwane University of Technology students requiring experiential learning to complete their Hospitality qualification and regular contributions to the Sunnyside soup kitchen.
