Allscan Trading acquires Imagecare Technical Services

Allscan Trading has completed the acquisition of the majority share of Imagecare Technical Services, a nationally based service and support company, focusing on the support and maintenance of production scanners in Africa. The acquisition will be of benefit to both companies' customers as Allscan has a vested interest in the quality of after-sales service in the brands it represents.

Allscan Trading was established in 2008 by Chris and Eldaline Botha and has grown to be one of the biggest scanner distributors in Africa with the support of the leading name brands in the industry. Allscan Trading distributes Kodak, Xerox, Canon and Brother scanners to the South African and African market.

"This acquisition made sense for us to do," said Chris Botha, MD of Allscan Trading. "In the past we had to depend on external partners to support the scanners that were sold via our channel partners, and we were not in the position to ensure quality. This acquisition puts us in the position to offer customers an end-to-end solution. The impact on the current Imagecare Technical Services will also be positive as it will be able to get support directly from the distributor of the scanners, which can offer significant price benefits for future contracts.

"Imagecare is in the process of becoming the ASP for one of the other well-supported brands in South Africa, but the details have not been finalised. Thankfully, we are in the position to guarantee the availability of parts for every scanner that needs to be supported and maintained."
