Vitai to run Telkom Mobile
Telkom has appointed industry veteran Attila Vitai as the managing director of Telkom Mobile‚ effective from Wednesday November 14‚ it says.
Vitai brings a wealth of experience to Telkom. He has a successful 20-year track record of senior management in the telecommunications industry‚ including 12 years at Motorola as a vice president in Europe and eight years as chief executive of two large Vodafone businesses in Hungary and Turkey.
"This experience will be invaluable as Vitai executes his mandate to grow Telkom Mobile into a profitable and sustainable business in this highly competitive industry‚" Telkom said in a statement.
He has an MBA from the Henley Business School at the University of Reading.
Vitai is also a qualified chartered accountant.
"He has a reputation for being a very focused and successful executive‚ who has excelled in turning around companies and delivering strong results‚" Telkom's statement read.
"I am confident that Attila's vast knowledge and experience of this industry will translate into positive growth in our mobile arm. We welcome him to Telkom and wish him all the best in his new endeavour‚" said Telkom chief executive Nombulelo Moholi.
