Real power of gadgets lies in more bandwidth
Gadgets such as the latest smart phones and tablets are likely to feature at the top of the wish lists of a broad spectrum of individuals this festive season - from teenage cybergeeks to senior business executives.
Andre Joubert, GM MWEB Business believes they should also be asking for more bandwidth because this adds to the value of the device as it creates an almost seamless experience for the user. "The real power of these gadgets lies not in the tablets, smartphones or notebooks themselves, but how one combines them and connects them to something else or to each other. In fact, what ultimately brings the gadgets to life is super fast, affordable, robust and reliable uncapped broadband that connects the gadgets to the Cloud and the myriad of apps available there," he says.
Joubert warns, however, that while there are a wide range of exceptionally affordable uncapped ADSL offerings available, users - particularly business people - should ensure that they opt for a solution that suits their requirements. Not all uncapped ADSL offerings deliver the same performance. Throttling and shaping can significantly slow your connection. In short, your experience with any device will depend on the quality of the connection you are using. Demand a connection that is uncapped, unshaped and unthrottled.
