A-Berth opens for oil and gas vessels repairs
Cape Town Harbour's A-Berth is providing a range of additional services at cheaper rates for the oil and gas service hub including steel and pipe fabrication, rope access, hydraulics and undersea services, according to a report published by Engineering News.
The new berth, according to the Engineering News report, will provide the port with a world-class offshore repair hub according to its operators, DCD-Dorbyl Marine.
A-Berth now has a 275m long quay and allows for berthing of vessels with a draught of up to 12m. It also has a 350 ton crawler crane and is complemented by mobile cranes with capacity ranging from 16 to 800 tons. It has taken five years to complete the upgrade.
