SAIPA head named to Power 50 list

The chief executive of the South African Institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA), Shahied Daniels, has been recognised in the International Accounting Bulletin (IAB) as one of the 50 most influential people in the global accountancy profession.

"On being named to the Power 50 list is a reflection of SAIPA and the Professional Accountant (SA), who are established leaders in corporates and SMMEs, providing high-value, quality services," said Daniels in response to the announcement.

"Having completed a decade as chief executive of SAIPA, I am proud to be part of a professional organisation that plays a crucial role in representing its members. We advocate that the Professional Accountant (SA) should at all times ensure a value-added service to their clients and employers. This creates additional wealth for our economy and its people," commented Daniels.

In the first stage of the judging process the IAB editorial team considered more than 200 prominent industry figures and invited the public to vote for candidates for the Power 50. In excess of 20,000 votes were cast in the two weeks allowed for voting in November 2014. The public vote results were then examined by the judging panel which made the final decision.
