Obsidian receives Red Hat Certified Training Partner of the Year accolade

Obsidian has been named as the 2011 Red Hat Certified Training Partner of the Year for Middle East and Africa, marking the second consecutive year that it has received this accolade.

"This is welcome recognition for the hard work put in by our team to ensure that Obsidian continues to deliver world-class Red Hat training," says Obsidian's MD, Muggie van Staden. "There is a growing need for certified Red Hat engineers as more organisations realise its advantages as an enterprise operating system, and we're proud to be able to offer training that is recognised for its excellence."

Obsidian has been a certified Red Hat training provider since 1999 and is the largest of the three training partners in South Africa. The company provides the entire spectrum of Red Hat training from Red Hat Certified System Administrator up to Red Hat Certified Engineer and has in the last year introduced the higher-level Red Hat Certified Architect courses.

Dedicated to high quality training

"This award reaffirms Obsidian's dedication and commitment to Red Hat and the quality of the training it provides," says Louis Seyffert, country manager at Red Hat South Africa. "It's also a reflection of the consistently high training standards they have maintained, while still growing and adding value despite the appointment of more channel partners."

Van Staden says Obsidian's Red Hat training has always been in demand, and continues to grow. "The Red Hat Certified Engineer qualification is undoubtedly one of the most prestigious IT certifications, and we see ever-growing numbers of people being trained up to this level. This award adds further credibility to our standing as the leading Red Hat training provider in the region and that our graduates are well prepared to enter the market and fulfill this growing requirement."
