Professor Nick Binedell appointed as dean at GIBS
The University of Pretoria's Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) announced that Professor Nick Binedell is to be appointed to the newly created position of dean at GIBS. Jonathan Cook, currently an executive director, will be appointed as director of the business school reporting to the dean.
Said Professor Binedell: "As GIBS continues to expand its activities and bring new offerings to the business community, it is essential that we look to strengthen the management of the school. This new structure will help to ensure that our ongoing efforts and commitment to impact and contribute to the performance of individuals and companies that choose to work with us are achieved. Jonathan's appointment will ensure a depth of management that will help to shape our future direction and ensure that we continue our growth as a nationally and internationally ranked and accredited business school."
Professor Cheryl de la Rey, vice-chancellor and principal of the University of Pretoria said: "GIBS has a proven track record in making a contribution to management development in South Africa and ensuring that current managers develop their skills to confront the emerging national and global challenges. I believe that by further strengthening the management of GIBS, it will ensure the continued quality of the GIBS offering."
