Call to enter supersized Animation Generation competition

The campaign will target 1,725,000 primary school students between the ages of six and 14 and 73,150 educators in South Africa. Students will be challenged to flex their creative muscles, stretch their young, creative minds to tackle this educational, yet fun activity to ultimately come out tops as the final winner of Cartoon Network's Animation Generation 2015.

Over the last 10 years, Cartoon Network has brought children around the globe some amazing heroes and the theme for Animation Generation 2015 will be around creating the 'next hero' that will call Cartoon Network home. Students are encouraged to design a brand new hero or heroine that will inspire South African children to be the best that they can be.

    Invent your own

"Every child has a cartoon figure, which they admire, look up to, and aspire to be, so why not, as a child, use your imagination to design and invent your very own; this is exactly the thought process, behind this year's Animation Generation theme. The competition is a unique initiative from Cartoon Network, which aims to harness the passion of our viewers and contribute something back to the local communities in which we operate. In 2015 our message to the youths will be to adopt heroic behaviour, by being a helpful civilian and generous towards others. We hope to encourage and inspire our viewers to unleash their creativity limited by nothing, but their imagination and we look forward to seeing the entries roll in," said Pierre Branco, Vice-President Southern Europe and Africa of Turner Broadcasting System.

Students from all over the country are invited to enter and have the chance to win amazing prizes. Up for grabs are iPads, Blackberrys, iPods and cash prizes for the top-three winners and schools in every age group, with the overall school with the most entries receiving a cash prize of R10,000. The overall individual winner of the competition will have the opportunity to get his drawing animated and it will be showcased live on air on Cartoon Network.

Students can enter in three age categories, six- to eight-year-olds, nine- to 11-year-olds and the final category of 12- to 14-year-olds.

Drawings can be entered online via the Animation Generation website or via post to: HDI Youth Marketeers, Animation Generation Competition Entries, Postnet Suite 331, Private Bag X 51, Bryanston, 2021.
