SAB warns again of email scam

South African Breweries has again warned consumers about an email scam that is being widely circulated in South Africa and which promises free products from the company. SAB put a warning out to the public on 20 July 2006 and the email has once again appeared in the public domain.

The email resembles a 'chain letter' and promised 12 cases of SAB's products if an email was forwarded to '10 friends', and then copied to a company which SAB had never heard of and had no dealings with.

SAB stated that it would like to warn consumers that this is not a legitimate promotion by the company and that SAB never takes part in so-called 'chain letter' activities.

"We'd like to ask consumers please to treat this as a scam and in no way connected to SAB," the company said in a statement released yesterday, Thursday 16 August 2006.
