Miss Italia South Africa at The Lyric
The Miss Italia South Africa beauty pageant, for girls of Italian descent, will be held at the Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City Casino on Saturday, 29 May, 2010. The winner will compete in the Miss Italia Nel Mondo pageant in Italy.
Miss Italia Nel Mondo is an international beauty pageant conceived in 1991 by Enzo Mirigliani, the patron of Miss Italy since 1959. Mirigliani and his daughter, Patrizia, remain the curators of the pageant.
Italian daughters living abroad
The event honours Italian daughters living abroad with their own beauty pageant. It is broadcast on RAIUno within Italy and on RAI International to the rest of the world.
With over 5000 entries worldwide each year, the finalists for the showpiece Miss Italia Nel Mondo pageant are the winners of the respective Miss Italia pageants in the different countries (such as Miss Italia South Africa). Each of the winners is flown to Italy to compete in the Miss Italia Nel Mondo pageant.
