Amazing acrobatics at AquaFestival

The V&A Waterfront this festive season is playing host to some great entertainment. Look out for the Zip Zap Circus that will be running daily till 31 December 2009 as part of the AquaFestival. The talented young performers from the Zip Zap Circus School based in Cape Town will have you oohing and aahing from your seat as you witness aerial acrobatics at its best.
Amazing acrobatics at AquaFestival

It's a colourful show for the whole family that kept even the seals entertained. Impressive juggling, dazzling contortionists and tumbling clowns is what it's all about but the most amazing acts take place high up above the ground. It's clear that these students spend plenty of time practising to perfect a professional act.

If you're expecting real penguins, dolphins and clown fish to make an appearance, don't be fooled - but the performers do good impressions of the sea critters. A pin was dropped here and there and unicycle performers did stumble now and again, but it was all part of the fun.

The Zip Zap Circus School aims to use circus arts training and performance for educational outreach and youth development of South African children. All training is provided free of charge. The school also provides riggers and stunt performers for business and the film industry.

The school was founded by Brent van Rensburg and Laurence Esteve, who work as full-time staff at Zip Zap.
