Brazil silences critics

Last night, five-times World Cup winners Brazil took on a feisty Chile. Most Brazilian fans and media were anti Brazil's new style of play. Gone were the days of Brazilian flair that football fans had come to love - until last night. Chile came out fighting but could not match the speed and accuracy of Brazil.

Brazil's first goal came from central defender Juan, rising above all in a corner kick to head home the ball for his country.

Brazil's play-makers Kaka and Robinho were next up to cause havoc for the Chilean defence. Kaka received the ball from Robinho and then slid it through to Luis Fabiano, who touched it wide past the goalkeeper to score the second goal. This was now a "glimpse of the past" of the Zico and Pele days, the legends of Brazilian football.

"Brazil's superiority was too much for us and we unable to slow them down," Bielsa, the Chilean coach said.

The final goal came thanks to a surge by Ramires, who dribbled past three defenders to set up Robinho, who scored one of the best goals of the 2010 World Cup so far.

Next up, Brazil will take on The Netherlands - whose attack is just as impressive as Brazil's.
