McIntyre's sell-out 2012 UK tour earned him a place in the Guinness Book of Records as the biggest-grossing comedian in the world, with ticket sales of over 700 000 in the UK alone. He sold out eight shows in September 2012 at London's O2 Arena, which has a capacity of 20 000 per night.
His BAFTA-nominated BBC 1 series, Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow is one of the most popular TV shows in South Africa. McIntyre's big break came at the Royal Variety Performance in 2006. His debut DVD, Live and Laughing, was the fastest-selling of all time, only to be eclipsed by his second, Hello Wembley, which sold over 1.4 million copies and was the 2009 Christmas number one in the UK.
McIntyre has won British Comedy Awards for Best Live Stand-up in 2009 and Best Male TV Comic in 2010.In 2011, McIntyre was a judge on the hit ITV1 show Britain's Got Talent. He also hosted Michael McIntyre's Christmas Comedy Roadshow on BBC1 Christmas Day which was watched by more than 8 million viewers.
Supporting Michael McIntyre on this tour is British comedian Paul Tonkinson, a 15-year veteran of the UK comedy circuit. Tonkinson's recent TV appearances in the UK include Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow and Live at The Comedy Store on Comedy Central.
