A quick 25km tarred detour off the N3 towards Giant's Castle brings you to White Mountain Lodge, which is where this annual music festival is held. With its spacious grounds, fishable dam, restaurant, charming old pub (with satellite TV), children's playground, swimming pool and convenience store, the lodge's many amenities add another dimension to the usual festival experience.
In addition, festival-goers can look forward to colourful arts and crafts, a beer market featuring several local breweries, as well as a wide variety of food stalls. There are also loads of activities for the family, ranging from abseiling, paintball and helicopter flips to guided hikes and a zip line across a nearby 100m-wide gorge.
Advance tickets cost R550 at Computicket and include camping for the entire festival. Gates open at 7am on Friday, 21 September. No under-18s without parental supervision.
