Phat Jack kicks off Spotlight series in Cape Town

Spotlight is a series of events focusing on a particular artist, via exclusive, all-night sets. Top DJs from around the country will take you on a journey through the sonic elements and genres that have shaped them. Every six weeks a new DJ will become the "Spotlight" artist and, in addition, will have the chance to select a supporting act to compliment what is planned on the night.

With the emphasis on the DJ, a platform is created to speak to the punters in a format they seldom get to enjoy. Spotlight aims to offer an authentic experience, one stemming from a place any music enthusiast knows well: a space where good nights out are shaped by meandering journeys through beat-mapped jungles and top-end peaks.

Always relevant and on-point

Phat Jack flies in from the City of Gold to kick-start the Spotlight series of events. Phat Jack's unique take on deep house has changed the face of South African dance music. Devoted to the unpredictable sound that is house, Jack is always listening, always hunting for new music and, in doing so, always remains relevant and on-point. His success as a DJ owes a lot to his skill and passion, but also to his charisma and charm. Through his music, Phat Jack expresses his magnetic individuality. In the ever-changing world of DJs, dance music and clubbing, few can lay claim to holding it down for nearly two decades. He has chosen Cassiem Latief as his supporting act and we couldn't have picked a more perfect pairing for this indulgent night of music. Latief will be kick-starting proceedings from 9 to 11pm, when Jack takes over for his five-hour set taking us into the wee hours of Sunday morning.
