Time Freight supports motorcycle race

The Eston Express cross-country motorcycle race, which will be hosted by the South Coast Motor Sport Club in conjunction with Tuskers Off-Road Motorcycle Club, will be held on 31 August at the Beaumont Eston Club.

The race is part of the KZN X-Country Regional Off-Road series and will be sponsored by Time Freight. The clubhouse will serve as the race control and pit area, and already the event is expected to draw a crowd of over 800 spectators, with a competitor field of approximately 140 entrants.

The track is situated on the R603 between Umlaas Road and Eston, an area well known for its motorbiking and mountain biking events. The racetrack on which competitors will showcase their skills stretches for 30km, over terrain that has not been raced on in recent years and will therefore provide a new challenge for most participants. The course has been designed by experienced local riders Graham Odendaal and Alistair Koningkramer, and should provide ample opportunity for entrants of all levels to demonstrate their abilities.

Regional and club races

South Coast Motor Sport Club chairman Lawrence Milne expects the race to attract some of South Africa's top riders, including Wade Young, Scott Bouverie, Michael Pentecost and last year's overall champion, Scott Scheepers. On the day, there will be regional and club series races, with the former incorporating the following divisions: open bikes, 200cc bikes, juniors (under 21), seniors and masters. The club series races will include open, 200cc, ladies, 'Silver Bullets' (over 55) and Weekend Warrior divisions, aimed at less serious riders who want to experience the thrill of cross-country competition. The event will kick off at 10:00am, ready for a full day of biking entertainment and excitement.

Time Freight is proud to be one of five sponsors for the Eston Express. The other four sponsors are Robust Pools, RBS, Yamaha and AgriSales. Time Freight will also be sponsoring giveaway prizes and a public address system, which will keep spectators abreast of results and announcements on the day of the race. Time Freight's CEO Etienne van Ravesteyn, commented that they are hugely excited to be involved with the Eston Express. "It is a great opportunity for us to help enrich the local area by supporting an event that fosters entertainment, community involvement and sporting prowess."
