Ndebele: Zero tolerance on transport-related bribery and corruption

Following the arrests at the weekend of two motorists who offered traffic officers bribes, Minister of Transport Sibusiso Ndebele has warned that bribery and corruption will not be tolerated and that motorists can expect a clamp down on road offenders.

IOL reports that on Saturday, a Johannesburg driver who offered members of the National Traffic Police (NTU) a R40 bribe to avoid an overloading fine was arrested, and on Friday (28 October), Johannesburg traffic police stopped a driver for not being in possession of a valid driving licence and arrested him after he offered them a R20 bribe.
