Design District becomes Rosebank's creative hub

Africrest Properties has almost completed the rejuvenation of its creative hub known as Design District in Rosebank, located on the corner Thyrwhitt and Keyes Avenues.
Design District becomes Rosebank's creative hub

"The building has already attracted major international companies. Recently, leases with Fox International Channels Africa (the television network) and Universal Music have been concluded," commented Justin Blend of Africrest.

Some of the other tenants in Design District include: Trace (the TV channel), SA Fashion Week, and The Loerie Awards. There is still some vacant space available to rent (including a spectacular triple-volume space) and demand has exceeded all expectations.

Randall Abrahams, CEO of Universal Music, said: "It is energising to tenant a building where all your neighbouring tenants are in a creative space - music, television, fashion. Working with Africrest Properties has been a pleasure and the move has gone smoothly considering the very tight time frames and the building's revamp."

Close to all the amenities

Alessandro Tucci SVP and GM of Fox International Channels Africa said: "We are pleased to be in a central creative space close to all the amenities of Rosebank including hotels and the Gautrain, the environment is perfect for a business of our nature."

Nick Katsapas of Africrest Properties commented: "We are aggressively growing our portfolio through the acquisition of buildings where we can add value through efficient hands-on asset management and where necessary renovate buildings when the opportunity presents itself." Africrest's portfolio consists of office, retail and industrial properties in high-growth areas.

Africrest has one more surprise addition to the Design District, which will further entrench the building as a creative node. News of this will be released soon.
