Social change adventurers walk South African coastline
The expedition, supported by Nampak Bevcan, Nampak DivFood and Collect-a-Can under its consumer facing brand, CAN DO!, will continue for approximately seven months and will see them walking along the South African coastline - from Alexander Bay on the Namibian border to Kosi Bay on the Mozambican border - whilst collecting and recycling litter as well as educating communities along the way.
Sharing lessons learned
Baretta and Howard plan to start each day of their journey at 6:00am and walk between 18 and 35km before resting for the day. While one carries the litter bin - which is made of cloth, and can be carried like a backpack and can take about 20 litre of trash at a time - the other will be responsible for carrying their food and water supplies for the day.
On their return in April 2013, they will share the lessons they learned and the importance of dreams, discipline, planning, and living life in service to others.
Join the CAN DO! Trekking for Trash team when they reach your area, for beach clean-ups:
- 17 November 2012 in Cape Town;
- 16 February 2013 in Port Elizabeth;
- 3 March 2013 in East London; and
- 6 April 2013 in Durban.
Baretta and Howard will be documenting their trip in real time via Twitter @Trekking4Trash and www.facebook.co.za/TrekkingForTrash.
