ICSC Solal Awards recognise best practice and outstanding marketing performance against European retail marketing excellence standards. These awards are recognised as a global benchmark of quality within the retail industry. This year judging takes place in Barcelona on 21 March 2012.

"Being asked to assist in judging this year is an honour and a testament to the quality of the work we produce. We are excited about the opportunity and look forward to sharing ideas with some of the best marketing talents in Europe during the judging process," says Mayne.

Two years ago, ICSC informed the industry that South Africa could no longer enter the American international awards programme, the Maxis. Mayne played an integral role in negotiating with the ICSC to ensure that South Africa was permitted to enter the Solal Awards, the European version of retail marketing excellence recognition.

JoAnn Laut, director of ICSC Global Awards comments, "He is a highly respected professional in the shopping centre industry and we're privileged to have him participate in the Solal Award judging."

Mayne has spent five years in the mall marketing arena, backed by 10 years at Ogilvy South Africa. For the past two years, he has been on the judging panel of the South African Council of Shopping Centres Footprint Awards.
