SA government to set up health ombudsman office
The government is to establish an ombudsman-type office to deal with complaints of poor service provision by both public and private hospitals, in a move to improve the provision of quality health care in the country.
Addressing journalists in Cape Town on Thursday following the fortnightly meeting of the cabinet, Minister of Health Aaron Motsoaledi said the proposed Office of the Health Standards Compliance would probe the extent to which both state and privately run hospitals obey health standards ahead of the rollout of the national health insurance scheme in 2012.
