Oxygen to move to Medscheme

Oxygen Medical Scheme plans to partner with Medscheme as its new administration and managed care service partner from 1 August 2009. Oxygen was formerly administered by Old Mutual.

James Van Vught, Oxygen's chief executive and principal officer confirmed that the move to Medscheme will add significant advantage to the scheme, and said, “We look forward to delivering on our customer promise of efficient service and the ongoing delivery of excellent medical benefits.”

“Exciting opportunities and new challenges lie ahead but we wish to assure our members, service providers and broker and adviser community that although Oxygen takes on a fresh new look, we remain true to our ethos of being the scheme best suited to the family and relevant to all South Africans. We strive to be the consumer champion in the medical scheme arena, and meet our members' needs”.

Paul Cox, head of Old Mutual Health Solutions, agrees, “Medscheme's track record has clearly demonstrated its ability to provide healthcare administration and managed care services which are competitive and of a high quality. This bodes well for Old Mutual customers who are also members of Oxygen, and we look forward to a successful, ongoing relationship with both Oxygen and its new administrator, Medscheme.”

Oxygen has negotiated a sales agreement which will see Old Mutual supporting the scheme through its broker and financial adviser networks.
