Adcock Ingram hosts health care summit for GPs
The summit aimed to provide the framework for general practitioners to break new ground by participating in debates on results of latest research studies and clinical practice.
According to Colin Sheen, Adcock Ingram marketing executive, “The Adcock Ingram Summit was conceived to broaden the communication within the industry and create an ongoing forum for discussion and knowledge sharing through our partnerships and interaction with practitioners across a wide range of therapies.”
A specialist panel of speakers, leaders in their respective fields of practice, dealt with a variety of topics including generic medication, antibiotics, paediatrics, dermatology, hormone therapy and coping with depression in private practice. Additionally there were presentations by political analyst and media personality, Justice Malala and economist J.P. Landman on the political and economic environment affecting South Africans.
Summit attendee Dr Moyra Stein commented on the two-day meeting: “The choice of speakers and the topics discussed were excellent. It was also a very innovative idea to include non-medical speakers, whose talks were very relevant to the future of all of us in the medical field in South Africa.”
“The Summit achieved its main objective to expose the delegates to the latest information, presented by the opinion leaders in their fields as well as developing a clear understanding of Adcock Ingram as a partner in healthcare.
It is rare that summits of this type are designed to meet the needs of general practitioners who are faced with a varying range of ailments and complaints from patients on a daily basis. The Adcock Ingram Summit aims to have set the standard for information sharing in the South African medical industry in the future,” concludes Sheen.
