New drug extends liver cancer survival
A drug called "sorafenib" -- sold under the brand name Nexavar -- stops the growth of tumors in people with liver cancer, a particularly hard-to-treat disease, according to a recent study.
Nexavar, marketed by Bayer Pharmaceuticals and Onyx Pharmaceuticals, is approved in the U.S. and dozens of other countries to treat advanced kidney cancer.
