Fashion meets food in new venue

FOURWAYS, JOHANNESBURG: The Catwalk, a new concept in contemporary launch and entertainment locale, will be celebrating the opening of its first venue, as well as “The Face of Catwalk” semi-finals, on location in the Fourways Mall on 26 April 2007.

The cat’s meow

Combining two Australian Fusion Cuisine restaurants, under the direction of master chef Franz (The Power Chef), five speciality bars as well as a permanent 13 metre catwalk, the venue will provide spontaneous as well as organised entertainment.

“There will always be something new at The Catwalk,” says Shaun Almeida, a director of the company. “During the day fashion show rehearsals will be taking place and at night we will host organised fashion shows. The general public will be able to wine and dine in this stunning, effervescent environment whilst simultaneously enjoying being surrounded by beautiful people! There is no place quite like it in this country.”

This overall venue is able to accommodate between 1 200 and 1 500 people at any given time. Clients can book the entire venue or merely part thereof, depending on their specific requirements.

The catering available through the establishment’s restaurants will produce fare for cocktail parties, formal and informal dining as well as casual finger foods. In addition, both music and décor will be arranged by The Catwalk, always ensuring that it remains ‘the cat’s whiskers’.

Management aims to ensure there will be no queues, which they intend to achieve through the diversity and functionality of the establishment bars, the two restaurants which jointly accommodate 250 tables, the ample toilet facilities as well as the large contingent of professionally trained staff.

The permanent ramp will not restrict the venue to fashion only, but instead will create a launch solution for a myriad of other industries.

“At The Catwalk our clients will not encounter the same experience twice,” says Shaun. “Each visit will be different from the last simply because our entertainment offering will constantly change.”

“The Face of Catwalk”, a ‘his-and-hers’ model search, will be taking place with the semi-finals culminating on launch night. Modelling contracts with Next Models, jewellery and clothing prizes as well as cash prizes of R150 000 per finalist are up for grabs. Competition details will be advertised on 94.7 Highveld Stereo from the beginning of April.
