The latest trends in Urban Youth Culture

Fashion, music, new language, and a positive pride in South Africa, are the threads that weave a new urban fabric. From kasi streets to suburban malls, YFM represents an urban rhythm that young people are moving to. Integrating large scale service results, focus groups, qualitative interviews and YFM's compelling insights into Mzansi's youth, Greg Maloka, YFM's Station Manager will present the very latest trends in urban youth culture.

Maloka completed a Commercial Practice Diploma at the then Technikon Northern Transvaal (TNT), and it was there that he nurtured his love for radio. Whilst there he was instrumental in the formation of the first campus based community radio station in the area, serving as the breakfast DJ and specialising in programming and research.

In 1997, Maloka queued - with a proposal for management that outlined his vision - for an on air spot on YFM. He got the job.

Over the years Maloka has distinguished himself in various positions at YFM, including Music and Programmes Manager and, most recently, Head of Sales, Events and Promotions.

Maloka was appointed Station Manager in January 2003. Some of his major responsibilities include overseeing YFM's internal sales team, interfacing with ICASA, and supervising on air content in its entirety.
