NUREMBERG, GERMANY: The Technical Consumer Goods market closed the fourth quarter, as well as the total year, with a sales growth of 2.8%. Sales volume generated from October to December amounted to €15.1bn. The total sales volume for 2012 was around €51.6bn. This is the result of GfK TEMAX Germany for the fourth quarter of 2012.

However, there are strong regional variations in the consumption potential of the German population. NUREMBURG, GERMANY: Despite continued discussions about the European economic and financial crisis, GfK predicts that retail turnover in Germany will increase by around 1% this year. Growth potential is much stronger in those retail locations which already have significant retail drawing power. Around 92% of Germans plan to spend an average of €241* on Christmas presents this year, which is almost as much as in 2010.
