Taking place on 16 and 17 September 2026 at The Forum – The Campus in Bryanston, Johannesburg, this year’s conference will focus on the theme Shaping the Future of Labour Law: Navigating Change, Driving Transformation.

The theme reflects the increasingly complex environment in which labour law operates. Technological advancement, changing workplace expectations, legislative reform and international developments are reshaping employment relationships and creating new challenges for employers, employees and labour law practitioners.

Over two days, the conference will provide a platform for delegates to engage with significant developments in South African labour law, while also considering international trends and their potential impact on the South African workplace.

The programme has been designed to encourage informed debate and practical engagement, featuring expert panel discussions, keynote presentations, practical case studies and interactive plenary sessions across three specialised streams. Sessions will examine emerging legal developments, recent case law, legislative initiatives and the broader forces influencing the future of employment and labour relations.

The SASLAW Annual National Conference provides an important forum for dialogue and collaboration within the labour law community. It brings together professionals from different sectors and areas of expertise to exchange perspectives, share experiences and consider how labour law can respond effectively to a rapidly changing world of work. The conference will also provide valuable opportunities for networking, professional engagement and collaboration, strengthening connections across South Africa’s labour law community.

SASLAW’s commitment to advancing labour law as both a legal and academic discipline remains central to the conference. By creating opportunities for practitioners, academics, policymakers and business and labour representatives to engage meaningfully, the Society continues to contribute to the development of labour law and its effective application in South Africa.
