Bright side of the gloom

Image courtesy of Photokanok / FreeDigitalPhotos.net.
While the global economy is still looking rather gloomy (cash withdrawals declined in January and the manufacturing sector posted disappointing stats...), there's always a bright side to every dark moon... Investors and exporters are being encouraged to take advantage of the weak rand; while the weaker yen could be a prospect for local exporters. Even the growth in new shopping centres refuses to be hampered by a sluggish economy. And with government still looking to turn out the light on liquor advertising, Jason Frichol shows us how to shine in-store.

For those of you without a PVR, you may have noticed a new red logo gracing your favourite ads - the 2013 Product of the Year winners were revealed last week.

A big nod goes to Bayede!, which has just concluded a deal that will see the wine brand in Walmarts across China shortly.

If you missed her TV debut, Bizcommunity's editor-at-large, Simone Puterman, will be featured on the SABC1's Media Career Guide Show repeat tonight, Monday, 11 February 2013, from 11pm-11.30pm.

And lastly, our 2013 Biz Trends Report is currently being compiled and will be ready for download during the course of this week.

Have a bright one!

Shan Radcliffe, Group Head - Retail
