Show profile Hide profileWith 26 years of experience in the communication environment, managing both internal and external communication programmes, also being responsible for public relations and events management, change and crisis communication, media relations, stakeholder relations, brand and reputation management and social media management, coupled with my relevant formal qualifications and leadership skills, provides me with the ability to add value as a professional communication and stakeholder management specialist. Besides my communication-related experience, I have also managed various community and CSI projects and programmes as well as exhibitions and shows.
I hold a BA Communication Science Honours degree and I am one of only ten people in Africa accredited as an International Accredited Business Communicator at the IABC. My communication experience includes eighteen years in local government with extensive stakeholder management experience and eight years in the mining industry as communication manager at Kumba Iron Ore's Sishen mine. During my employment period at Sishen I also on various occasions acted as Manager Sustainable Development, directly overseeing community development projects focusing on health, education, social and economic development.
I was also exposed to the brand rules of Anglo American and Kumba Iron Ore and understand the importance of constant, clear in time communication and the diverse needs of communication to a broad target group, situated at various levels in a global organisation - London, Johannesburg, Business Unites and down to sites, as well as the need for engagement with external stakeholders.
Further to that, I have four months of communication experience at NTIP (National Tooling Initiative Programme), a non-profit organisation, responsible for the facilitation of training in the manufacturing industry, with government and the manufacturing industry as key stakeholders.
I have the ability to draft and support change communication, manage marketing and brand strategies and focus on targeted communication to change the communication output from a volume based one to a value-based one. As a communication professional, I know how to bring the voice of the organisation to life with a brand that aligns its verbal, visual and digital messages and activities with its mission and vision. I see myself as a strategic partner in a company, providing support to ensure that the organisation runs efficiently and effectively, striving for its financial, social and environmental sustainability through my daily activities. I have extensive project, marketing and events management experience varying from big sports events to smaller award ceremonies managing budgets of up to R15 million per event.
I have determination and passion for what I do, am a self-starter that can multi-task and function exceptionally well under pressure. I am deadline driven with strong attention to detail. I have the ability to advise and engage at all levels of an organisation to deliver appropriate and targeted communication products aligned to the business strategy.
