Supplier Award 2018 for Imperial Logistics
I reckon that you would have to have a pretty high standard of procedure and governance over operations in order to win an award for it at your factories! The different departments and units of the company must be so proud to have won this!

Digitalising the CFOs role
Being able to crunch the numbers is very different from being able to read it. No matter how much you said you'll be able to predict something just by starting at all these figures, I reckon that it'll take a real human head to actually make some industry-shaking realisations and predictions!

Joint venture to provide some XtraSpace in Mauritius
Companies are known to seek expansion opportunities when the market is booming with demand. Self storage is indeed a popular necessity for almost every household and has began to emerge as a commodity for most. With supplies running low, joint ventures are bound to pop up to ensure everyone gets the extra space they need.

BPL plays host to one of a kind Rolls-Royce
Besides the fact that Rolls Royce has facilities that build jet engines, I really don't see the draw. I mean, I like a good car as much as the next, but not when the car is multiple times more expensive than something else that would work just as fineā€¦

Automated warehouse with new contour control
That is a massive number of storage locations which most certainly means that an automated system is indeed necessary to be implemented. Without one, workers need to manually pick the inventory using lifters or escalators equipment which need more time and have its own risks. With an automated warehousing system, inventory can be retrieved by simply entering the location code inside the sytem.

Jungheinrich WMS: New interface for increased user-friendliness
I am really bad at visualising this sort of thing. I would really need to have a hands on demonstration to see how such technology would change how things work in my facility.

ID Logistics SA reduces carbon footprint
Everyone around the world is doing their best to contribute towards green efforts and large organisations play a highly crucial role. Their business operations are processed on a daily basis and just a small effort would have a huge overall impact to the environment. The step taken by this company with their distribution facility would definitely encourage other business owners to participate as well.

#WomensMonth: Cape Town kombucha queen Meghan Werner
I don't really fancy tea myself, but the industry for it is booming. And I really don't know of anybody who doesn't have a couple of units of the stuff just sitting around in their pantry storage rooms. It's not hard to imagine how one could make a real killing on it if you found the right mix of the stuff to sell!

Watch robots pack groceries in Ocado's automated warehouse
Running a self storage facility myself, I would really love to see what kind of mechanisation and automated units they have installed a big enterprise like this warehouse! I reckon it would be pretty darn amazing to see everything running on clockwork with all the computers controlling everything!

Benefits of franchising as a business model
There are many benefits that I can see from a franchise. Many self storage facilities for instance have their own franchise to be let out by downlines. The upper management can render assistance in the form of mentoring, training and so on to the new franchise owners to keep the legacy of the business going at a much faster rate.

Export orders, container shipping on the rise
The storage container industry relies greatly on the demand for export orders. Both of them work cohesively together requiring each other's services during fluctuations in the market. We can see visible changes on either one affecting one another in a chain pattern and somehow that is how industry players often figure out what to expect next.

Pick n Pay to cut food prices
During such an insecure plight, consumers are highly encouraged to practice food storage. They can make bulk purchases and save a lot of costs while being able to stock up for the rainy days.

Mali solar project will reduce power costs by 75%
Society should already be aware by now of how much potential solar power has in store for us all. The technology can help us to cut down on utilities as well as be greener towards the environment too. For such a project however, not only do solar panels matter, but a good solar storage system should also be put in place to ensure the whole technology can be put into practice for good use without any hiccups along the way.

The Mobile Soup Kitchen needs an ice-cream truck
Mobile food trucks have been using storage containers and I think it is a good choice as they are mobile and provide ample space. Space, as we are aware of, is crucial for a kitchen. There is a need to prepare proper storage for food items, utensils, as well as a good stove and preparation area.

How under-investing in warehouse lighting could lead to reputational, financial disaster
Ok, honestly, the point here is that you want to make sure that you're reading the labels on all of that stuff in storage right? It might not be a matter of lighting, but a matter of labelling isn't it? I'm sure that whoever is heading into the warehouse to retrieve items can carry a good light or torch if the lighting is insufficient...

Finding solutions to disrupted Wi-Fi in the warehouse
I think it really depends on what type of self storage facility you have there. Honestly speaking, if you are just storing big items into long term storage, your guys are going to be in and out of the warehouse in no time and you don't really need for them to have much connectivity while they're walking inside the storage warehouse at all.

Increased demand for industrial real estate due to rise in imported goods
There is a need for increased storage space to ensure the imported goods get proper storage. Even in Ulladulla, storage warehouses are popular amongst import and export businesses where inventory sales is their core business. This is a similar business move that is necessary to be facilitated to ensure consumer demand is met on a timely fashion.

First green DHL Express facility in SSA unveiled
More companies are coming forward to join in the bandwagon to be green and contribute towards environmentally-friendly efforts. Businesses are utilizing energy storage techniques to show their support and to save on utilities as they progress along. Wind and solar are several of the more popular options and they have so far proven to be effective which encourage even more participation. In time, these energy alternatives will gain even more popularity and support green efforts all the way.

Industrial property tops in real estate
There are various industrial properties within the commercial market including self storage, factories and warehouses among others. The situation will not remain the same even for a short span of time. It all depends on the demand of the market and what is high on request at that very moment in time. Different market sectors call for different commercial properties and the industry needs to be ready to cater to all of these varying needs.

#BizTrends2017: Is it time for a new (business) reality? Key tech predictions for 2017
The tech sector truly moves too fast for people to keep up these days. It's hard enough trying to follow up with some of the existing stuff before a newer version comes along and you're being forced to upgrade to it! Running my self storage business is a great example of this - we have to constantly ensure that we are up to date in our security and surveillance to ensure our customers feel comfortable and secure putting their things in storage with us!
