The Grande Provence wine estate in Franschhoek received a Double Gold and Gold medal at the 2018 Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Awards. The Grande Provence White 2016 achieved the Double Gold medal, which is only awarded to 10% of the entrants. The Michelangelo Gold medallist is the Grande Provence Chenin Blanc 2017.
The judging panel comprises British Masters of Wine, sommeliers, wine and spirits producers, educators and influential journalists from Europe, the Far East, and the Americas. This year, the awards received a record number of 2,225 wines, the biggest lineup since the competition's inception 22 years ago.
