The social economic development department of GrandWest Casino and Entertainment World held the Santa's Workshop Party at GrandWest's Sun Exhibits for underprivileged children from various charities. GrandWest also hosted a Santa Shoebox Project event at which 240 boxes were packed.

Inspired by the kalkveld (calcareous earth) terroir and its flagship Kalkveld Shiraz, Zandvliet Wine Estate has designed tasting room, Kalkveld Lounge, to augment the area's tourism offering. Interior designer Philip Pikus of Cape Town was contracted to handle the aesthetics.

To commemorate the 225-year-old legacy of the winery's founder, Phillipus Wolvaart; Nederburg Wines held a special vine planting event earlier this month. Guided by Nederburg's viticulturist, Bennie Liebenberg and farm manager, Bertie Faure, guests braved the intense Paarl summer heat and got their hands dirty and helped plant the cultivar, Chambourcin, on a block that's been resting for three years to improve the decomposed granite soil. The Wavescape Festival in Cape Town, an ocean-minded event, included film screenings, art exhibitions, ocean talks, filmmaking workshops and a charity auction. A record R328,000 was raised and will be making its way to four important ocean causes.

The social enterprise, aimed at addressing the youth unemployment crisis in South Africa, introduced the festival as an interactive event for learners and employers to gain first-hand exposure to a vast array of careers and employers.

The Ithala Development Finance Corporation held its annual Inkunz'isematholeni Youth in Business Awards at the Elangeni Hotel on 24 November 2016. Ithala launched the project in 2014 as a way to address the unemployment rate by encouraging the young people to consider self-employment as a job option.

The United Nations awarded six global environmental leaders with the Champions of the Earth award at a global biological diversity conference which was held in Cancún, Mexico. The award acknowledges figures from the public and private sectors as well as those from civil society who have had a significant and positive impact on the environment.

This past weekend saw the inaugural Pure&Crafted SA Festival take place at Ground in Muldersdrift, where thousands of people came out to experience the best in motorcycling, music, food, drinks and the outdoors.

Nat Geo Wild has announced the release of the six-part drama, Savage Kingdom, airing on 4 December. The documentary, which looks at animal clans battling for survival in a dry African region, will be narrated by Charles Dance, from Game of Thrones fame. Watch the trailer here..
