YouTube aims to capture 'Life in a Day'
YouTube is attempting to document one day, as seen through the eyes of people around the World. On 24 July, contributors are being asked to take a snapshot of their life. Submissions from around the world will be edited by the Oscar-winning director Kevin Macdonald into a documentary film.
The finished product will be screened at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. Twenty contributors will be selected to attend the premiere and anyone whose footage is used will be credited as a co-director.
The 'Life in a Day' project is in line with LG Electronics long-standing 'Life's Good' campaign.
"On July 24, you have 24 hours to capture a snapshot of your life on camera. You can film the ordinary - a sunrise, the commute to work, a neighbourhood soccer match, or the extraordinary - a baby's first steps, your reaction to the passing of a loved one, or even a marriage," said YouTube's product marketing manager Tim Partridge in a blog post about the initiative.
