Appointments had been made to provide continuity and expertise to the board given that Neil Sachdev would not be seeking re-election at the company's 2016 annual general meeting, having served for nine years. In 2017 Andrew Huntley would be retiring from the board.

Both Parekh and Strachan are joining the board with immediate effect.

Intu chairman Patrick Burgess said he was delighted to welcome the two new non-executive directors. "Both are highly regarded in their respective fields and I look forward to their lively and valuable contributions to the board's deliberations and strategic vision," Burgess said.
