To intercept this, the New loveLife Trust established and registered the loveLife Leadership Academy which seeks to collaborate with big business with the aim of providing South African youth with skills that enable them to access opportunities. The purpose of the academy is to become the inspirational core in empowering young people to achieve their full potential in making meaningful contributions for better futures.

On 13 November, the loveLife Leadership Academy will officially be launching the academy by introducing their strategy for being a key pillar of social cohesion as well as building on accessibility of economic and skills opportunities for the youth.

Goal for 2020

"We have the audacious goal of having 40,000 young people trained with skills and qualifications that enables them to access opportunities available in future, employment and entrepreneurship by 2020," says Basetsana Kumalo, chair of loveLife Leadership Academy Advisory.

Government legislation urges businesses in South Africa to support skills development, job creation, poverty alleviation and economic development but many companies struggle in terms of compliance. The academy, through quality education programmes, provides a solution.

"We want to provide solutions that are both visible and measureable. The academy encourages businesses to partner with us and help contribute to the creation of a conducive business environment in the long term and sustained economic growth. Together we can make a difference," says Treaty Moshoeshoe, loveLife Leadership Academy managing director.

The academy launch will be held at the Maslow Hotel in Sandton, Johannesburg on Friday, 13 November.
