SEA Africa hosts youth entrepreneurship workshop
SEA Africa will be hosting the Advancing Youth Entrepreneurship through Innovation event to celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) on Thursday, 21 November at the Sandton Holiday Inn in Johannesburg. SEA Africa links businesses to African markets and is the official partner for GEW.
"We are excited to invite those wishing to celebrate entrepreneurship, innovation, design and creativity to join us at this prestigious event," says Kizito Okechukwu, executive head of SEA Africa. "This also marks our fourth year as a GEW host partner. In addition, we are pleased to announce that this year's GEW will include the launch of the Centre for Youth Entrepreneurship (CAYE) to be graced by the deputy minister of tourism, Tokozile Xasa. This reaffirms our commitment to plant the entrepreneurial flag as early as possible - and keep it flying high from the outset."
Various focus areas
GEW covers various focus areas regarding entrepreneurship include, amongst others, discovering the power of design in advancing entrepreneurship; informing entrepreneurs on initiatives that are engineered by various partners to advance their businesses; sharing opportunities available for entrepreneurs in various African markets; and discussing and analysing findings on the current impact of the South African business environment on developing a new generation of entrepreneurs.
Keynote speaker at the event will be Hlengiwe Mkhize, deputy minister of economic development, while other speakers include Sisa Ntshona, head of Enterprise Development Banking at Barclays Africa; Gavin Mageni, GM at the SABS Design Institute; Mike Tsotetsi, CEO at CATHSSETA; Thakhani Makhuvha, CEO at SEFA; and Zanele Monnakgotla, head of Innovation at the IDC. An interactive panel discussion will also be held featuring entrepreneurs in manufacturing, ICT and renewable energy.
"Through a coordinated effort the day's activities and content will not only encourage you to think innovatively and unleash your ideas, but will be based on what's relevant to your business needs. GEW is so much more than just an awareness campaign. It is a platform to connect and collaborate - engaging all players in the November at entrepreneurial spectrum," Okechukwu concludes.
