Not enough jobs to go round
South Africa is still no creating enough jobs and there have been seven quarters of job losses in the country according to Economic Development Minister Ebrahim Patel.
In an article published by the Mail & Guardian Patel says that jobs are not being created fast enough to absorb the rising number of people seeking employment. He says that just 64 000 jobs had been created in the past three months.
The M&G says that overall 150 000 jobs had been created in the nine months since the government's New Growth Path economic policy was launched. Patel warns that about 200 000 new job seekers entered the market in each of the first two quarters of this year.
