February goods transported by land decreases 4.4% y/y

The volume of goods transported (payload) decreased by 4.4% year-on-year (y/y) in February 2014.

The corresponding income increased by 4.7% over the same period.

Income from freight transportation increased by 6.4% in the three months ended February compared with the three months ended February last year.

The main contributors to this increase were: other freight (29.9% and contributing 2.6 percentage points); basic metals and fabricated metal products (14.6% and contributing 0.7 of a percentage point); and agriculture and forestry primary products (11% and contributing 0.7 of a percentage point).

The number of passenger journeys decreased by 0.8% in February 2014 compared with February 2013. The corresponding income increased by 6.4% over the same period.
