Denel Exhibits products at Malaysian exhibition
The group chief executive of Denel, Riaz Saloojee says DSA provides the South African defence industry with a window of opportunities into the entire South East Asian region. DSA is among the top three global defence shows hosted annually across the world with a strong presence of defence forces, governments and industry players from the ASEAN countries.
"We will demonstrate Denel's capacity and the range and quality of our products and systems across a wide spectrum of the defence industry," says Saloojee. "This is an opportunity to meet with existing and prospective clients and to create a greater awareness of our products and services in a region that is growing in importance."
Close relationship with Malaysia
Denel has a special relationship with the Malaysia defence community which culminated in the supply of 25 G5 long-range artillery systems in 2001. For the past decade the company has provided logistic product support, spares and maintenance services to the Malaysian army. The South African developed G5 and the motorised artillery G6 systems are still considered to be global leaders in the field of long-range artillery. Denel Land Systems is also partnering with the Malaysian company, DRB Highcom (Deftech) in the development of a new range of 8x8 armoured vehicles for the country's defence force.
Denel Land Systems is one of the companies in the group which will promote its products at DSA, most notably its LCT-30 turret systems that are fitted to armoured vehicle and its NTW-20 anti-materiel rifle designed to destroy high-value targets over long distances.
Pretoria Metal Pressings (Denel PMP) will demonstrate its newly developed range of 30mm ammunition that are utilised by combat vehicles. "The quality of this new product is among the best in the world - and comparable with any other international producer of 30mm x 173 calibre rounds," says Carel Wolhuter, the CEO of PMP.
