To stay at the top of your game you need an inbuilt desire to succeed. It is all about how many times you are prepared to pick yourself up, dust yourself down and start all over again
Training is invaluable - spend time with a top property agent and observe
Passion - if you are passionate about what you do, success awaits
Social media and technology - associate yourself with a technologically advanced team - this aspect of real estate is essential in today's market
Collaboration - no man is an island in the property industry - brainstorming and networking with the right people are key to self-development and career success
Referrals - an important though underutilised tool in the property industry. An agent's referral network is built on good word-of-mouth feedback : Have good service policies in place; Be prepared to reward others for referring a client; Have knowledgeable staff to service clients
Knowledge is power - keep abreast of industry developments in order to impart credible advice to clients
When the chips are down, have a "pick me up" strategy - mine is to do something that I really enjoy outside of the real estate arena
Fundamentals - stick to the basics, stay grounded and be disciplined
Constantly be aware of the needs of the people who you meet on a daily basis - it is good for the soul.
