Cape Town launches own Monopoly board game

"As a marketing collective we seek innovative ways to keep the Cape Town Big 7 front of mind and having our attractions featured on an iconic board game like Monopoly presents a long-term opportunity for us to show off the seven things you must do if you live in or visit Cape Town," said Bulelwa Makalima-Ngewana, CEO of the Cape Town Partnership.

"But our attractions are merely a gateway to the rest of the Cape Town experience. The Monopoly Cape Town board promotes the variety of things to do in Cape Town and will motivate visitors to spend more time here and to visit regularly."

Boosting tourism

The Cape Town Big 7 is a marketing body to ensure visitors know there are seven unmissable, awesome things to do in Cape Town. The aim is to encourage visitors to extend their stay in terms of number of days and extend their range, opening up the opportunity for other sites to be visited and further boosting the flourishing tourism industry.

Mr Monopoly spent last week experiencing the Big 7 spots and created a buzz on social media, when he was spotted taking a trip on the Table Mountain cable car, exploring Dias Beach and the lighthouse at Cape Point, meandering along the City Walk, smelling the flowers beneath Castle Rock at Kirstenbosch, discovering the history of Groot Contantia, experiencing the always alive V&A Waterfront and catching the ferry to Robben Island.

Additional Cape Town locations featured in Monopoly Cape Town include The Springbok Experience, Two Oceans Aquarium, Newlands Cricket Ground, Chapman's Peak Drive, Cape Town International Airport, Port of Cape Town, Camps Bay and Simon's Town.
