In the past few years, interest has primarily centred on the need for warehousing and distribution spaces rather than manufacturing spaces, a fact which has long concerned the company. However, in the past few months, Improvon has noted a number of enquiries from companies wanting to set up manufacturing operations.
Of particular interest is the fact that all the enquiries have emanated from businesses already operating in South Africa and conducting business in vibrant areas of the market such as energy, renewable energy and alternate sources of energy.
According to Lewington, most of these businesses are intending to expand their existing processes and create added value.
"If South Africa is able to build on its manufacturing capability in the long-term then this augurs well for the economy of the country as a whole," says Lewington.
